Yeah, it was a pretty cool find. Unfortunately, most of these places smell like mold and are fairly hazardous.

Niice :o
Did you use any filter?
Or did the grain and the contrasty details comefrom digital editing?

Thanks! The only editing that was done to this image was the HDR process of layering three differently exposed images (over, under and normally exposed) of the same subject over one another.

The noise/grain is a result of taking the shots in a very low-light environment.

Hmm... maybe you could give me a few tips on how to use that layering? I've been making those pictures too (called Särikahvel here), but I never got the point of how it helps me with the picture/details quality.

Ah, beautiful HDR... it almost looks like a painting. These abandoned places have a melancholy ambience, yet also beautiful.

really nice...

how did you achieve this "artificial" / "rendering" look?

This is an HDR image - basically it's three exposures of the same image. One over-exposed, one normally exposed, and one under-exposed image. Then I combine them (Photoshop CS2 has a command under the "Automate..." menu to "Merge images to HDR") which brings out the colors in a surreal way.

thanks...I was thinking in this direction.

I'd not much luck in producing enough good matching images for a HDR-merge with my Sony-Camera...but still trying

Most important, technically speaking, is a tripod and using the same F-stop for each image (to keep the DOF constant). Of course finding a good location with the right weather conditions goes without saying...

Eerily beautiful. I like the composition and color tones in it. Where'd you find this place, anyhow?

It's about 20 minutes from my house (New Jersey). I always keep a lookout for places like this whenever I drive anywhere and usually visit them eventually. I have quite a few images from dilapidated locations, so if you enjoy this, then stay tuned ;)

Cool. I love finding things that haven't been seen in [who knows how long]. I dunno, I always feel like I'm doing something wrong when I take pictures in cool places as I travel by or through them.

And if what you say is true, then by all means, :+devwatch:!
